Jonathan gin has been a firefighter for the city of Monterey Park for over 14 years. In addition to being a full-time Fire Captain, Jonathan has become the department’s firehouse record management system administrator, the Department’s lead in geographic information systems, (GIS) and the department’s WebEOC Administrator.
Jonathan is also a member of the urban search & rescue team, and is also specialized as a technical search specialist. He possesses a Bachelor's Degree in Fire Protection Technology from Cal State University – Los Angeles and is currently working on his Master’s Degree in Emergency Management.
Jonathan is heavily involved in Emergency Preparedness and responsible for helping oversee emergency operations procedures. He also trains local government personnel annually during California’s Golden Guardian exercise, utilizing WebEOC software for incident management within the emergency operations center.
Jonathan lives in Alhambra, CA with his wife Jenny. They enjoy spending time with their family and friends.
Matt Hallock has been involved with emergency management for over 16 years. Currently, Matt is a Fire Division Chief with the Monterey Park Fire Department where he is heavily involved with Emergency Preparedness. Not only does Matt hold his normal fire suppression responsibilities, he is also the Emergency Preparedness Coordinator and CERT Coordinator for the Monterey Park Fire Department.
Matt’s Emergency Preparedness Coordinator responsibilities have included drafting the City’s Emergency Operations Plan and ensuring it’s accuracy through annual Emergency Exercises. Prior to his fire department experience, Matt was a corporate representative for Southern California Edison where he worked in the Emergency Planning and Preparedness Division ensuring the power company’s business continuity given any natural or man-made emergency. “Passing along my knowledge and experience with Emergency Preparedness to the community is something that I am very passionate about. Matt possesses a Bachelor Degree as well as a Masters Degree in Public Policy and Administration from California State University - Long Beach
Matt makes his home in Long Beach, California with his wife and three children.
With thirty one years of experience in the public safety industry, Jim has built a reputation as a leader and innovator in Emergency Management and a belief in the mantra that "chance favors the prepared mind."
After his start as a Firefighter in 1983, Jim rose through the ranks in a southern CA Fire Department becoming a Firefighter/Paramedic, Engineer, Captain, Battalion Chief and reaching the top position as Fire Chief in 2010. Jim possesses a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Studies as well as graduate work in Emergency Services Administration at Cal State University - Long Beach. Jim recently retired from Public Safety with a mission to improve the way local governments, school districts and businesses prepare for the inevitable events which land in every region of the United States. Whether it is a planned event, fire, flood, earthquake, tornado or man-made incident, Jim has a passion to share his knowledge from real life experiences by helping organizations prepare for an untimely incident.
Jim has built a team of the best possible minds and innovators to assist him in Emergency Management with over a combined 75 years of public safety experience. After succeeding in public safety, Jim founded EMCS as an encore career with the goal of sharing his knowledge in emergency preparedness, reliable response and recovery from an event or incident. He wanted to do something unique by providing training, planning and confidence to organizations to help with business continuity through difficult situations.
Jim lives in Yorba Linda, CA with his wife Carmen. They enjoy spending time with their family and attending their grandchildren's youth sporting events.
